need for oversight

There is discord in the kingdom of Ambrose. Recently, Minion went out and bought a slew of tomes covering dog behavior, training, health, and something about monks who train dogs (aren't they busy enough with God?). She claims this is all research for some website that's due to launch, but I smell the foul stink of ulterior motive. Will the treats I'm given in such abundance now be tied to prosaic tricks like rolling over or playing dead, or whatever it is the kiss-ass dogs do for their Milkbones? Whenever I eat a tasty morsel of dirt-flecked fecal entree, will she dash off to this new and very questionable library to glean the knowledge of grumpy-looking vets? All I can do is sit on her lap, like this, and read every word she writes, just in case. In the meantime, I'm buying books on hypnotism, mind control, cults, and that new Gina Kolata book on the cultural politics of dieting (there's only so much one can read about how to use the Kool-Aid).
